Every year Nobel peace prize is assigned to a figure that played a huge role in fighting for human rights and in guaranteeing their concrete application and respect.
Among the most famous winners, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa of Calcutta and, more recently, President Barack Obama, came up strong getting the award.
The World Food Programme (WFP) has just won the 2020 Nobel peace prize for its capacity to contrast hunger worldwide and to improve conditions for peace in many conflict areas. This award has been truly deserved by WFP because of their aim to contrast COVID-19 crises and to encourage the international community to fund the UN properly.
Who will be the Nobel Peace Prize winner of 2021?
Among indiscretions, but later confirmed by internal sources of the White House, President Donald Trump was nominated for his leadership in brokering the Abraham Accords, bringing about the full normalization of relations between Israel and United Arab Emirates. (Funny thing is that the rivalry between Mr Trump and democrat candidate and future president Joe Biden will expand to an international scenario for the assignation of the Nobel Peace Price, also Joe Biden also seems to be one the candidates)
Not everyone knows that Trump has already been nominated in 2018, for his efforts to bring reconciliation to North and South Korea and for his role in striking an economic agreement between the mortal Balkan enemies Kosovo and Serbia.
Trump’s nominations was gathered with contrasting emotions, pride from the Republicans and disappointment from the opposition
A very debated topic is whether Nobel Peace Price should be awarded on the basis of a concrete achievement or should be taking into consideration the defining values of the person behind it.
